Michael D. Provencher’s passion for disability advocacy began in law school, when he served clients in the Education Rights Clinic, helping children secure the accommodations they needed from the special education system. He then interned for the Disability Law Center of Virginia, helping to ensure statewide compliance with disability protection laws by skilled nursing facilities and developing litigation strategies to fight for institutionalized citizens. Now, Michael continues his advocacy by helping clients obtain Social Security Disability benefits through hearing representation and assistance in other stages of the process.
Michael further serves his community by providing pro bono legal services through the Lawyer on the Line program of Legal Aid of North Carolina and the N.C. Free Legal Answers program of the North Carolina Bar Foundation.
Michael graduated from North Carolina Central University’s Honors Program with a Bachelor of Arts summa cum laude in Political Science, Minor in Writing, and Minor in Philosophy and from the University of Richmond School of Law with a Juris Doctor. He is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association, and the Cumberland County Bar Association.
