The only distinguishing factor for fibromyalgia can be tenderness in specific locations on the body. Social Security does not currently have a particular listing for fibromyalgia. This does not mean that a claimant who suffers from fibromyalgia cannot get approved for disability. What this means is that when applying for Social Security disability, rather than focusing on a medical listing from Social Security, applicants must show that they are not able to work due to their symptoms which typically include generalized pain and fatigue.
